Live Music
Messiez Quartet feat. Sofía Tosello

LIVE MUSIC

Sunday Evening Milonga with MESSIEZ QUARTET feat. SOFÍA TOSELLO

This special band was born from a simple idea: to make people dance!

Pianist Emiliano Messiez creates yet another tango band that will set the dance floor on fire.

He is bringing in some of the best musicians we know—

Sergio Reyes on violin and Pablo Lanouguere on double bass and Rodrigo Avalos on the bandoneón—to lay down the rhythm and soul of the music..

With a deep love for the most danceable tangos and a passion for bringing the music to life,

this band is all about energy, rhythm, and connection. From the first note to the last,

they play with one goal in mind: to keep your feet moving and your heart racing.

Their music will pull you in and make you feel every beat.

¡Nos vemos en la pista!

Sofía Tosello is originally from Córdoba, Argentina and now living in New York City, she brings the voice, the interpretation of the lyrics and the stories behind these songs to the musical Tango world. Tosello has evolved a brand new musical synthesis finding a big approach to Tango and mixes in the rich variety of Latin American “ cancion” traditions, including Chacarera, Bolero Filin, Peruvian Vals, Son Cubano, Bossa Nova and Zamba.  One also hears shades of the downtown “world” jazz scene of New York in Tosello’s performance.

Christopher Loundon writing in Jazz Times, notes that “the purity of Tosello’s voice is matched by the vibrancy of her emotional palette and inventiveness of her cross-cultural technique. The next wave in Latin American Jazz may well begin with Tosello”. Sofia has performed and recorded with well-known artists such as Pedro Giraudo Jazz Orchestra and Tango Ensemble, Fernando Otero, Polly Ferman and Glamour Tango, Cocomama, Alex Cuba, Thalia, Mariela Franganillo Tango Company, Guy Mendilow Ensemble, among others.
